Virginia High School Football Playoffs: Westfield Validates Regional Dominance, 58-34 over West Springfield; Stone Bridge, Potomac Advance

?Time to Go to the Beach! Westfield Marches On to State Semi Finals

–Westfield HighSchool, Chantilly VA 11/24/2007

The West Springfield Spartans marched into Westfield as heavy underdogs, not expected to put up much of a fight. Instead, the fearless Spartans led the top ranked Bulldogs 21-20 with 8 seconds left in the first half. Unfortunately, the Dogs still had the ball at the Spartan 37 yard line, and one more chance to regain momentum before halftime…and they did just that. Wesfield QB Mike Glennon (On his way to NC State), dumped a seemingly harmless screen pass to his fellow senior fullback Ross Lavin, who scampered all the way down the sideline untouched to paydirt. After the extra point, the scoreboard now read 27-21 Home Team. With over 500 total yards rushing, and 58 points, Westfield raised the Divison 6 Northern Regional Trophy, and moved on the State Semi Finals in Virginia Beach next Saturday versus OSCAR SMITH, also undefeated at 13-0. More details coming soon regarding time and who is Oscar Smith? We know they beat Salem down south to reach this game, and we have been told that this game will be the best in the State all year.

Now back to the Westfield game on Saturday.
