Despite 1st half Struggles, Virginia’s Hokies Prevail 17-7 in First Football Game since Tragedy
September 3rd, 2007 Posted in Hokie FootballThe Hokies were trailing 7-3 for most of the first half, and put enough fear into the Blacksburg faithful to wonder about a possible upset loss. Could Tech really lose a game that they simply could not lose? So much emotion, so much attention, and so much importance likely resulted in too much pressure on the Hokies to perfom at their Top 10 level. Maybe that pressure is what prevented the expected blow out, but it was the Hokie’s recognizable defensive pressure that vaulted them to a 10-7 halftime lead, and at least a small sigh of relief. The game was preceded by a moving ceremony as the crowd paid trubute to the 32 Hokie students and faculty who fell victim to tragic shootings in April. A Video Clip is available on this link.
