Day one results from the Southeast Regionals in Shelby, NC (double-elimination):
- Randolph County Legion (North Carolina) beat Leesburg Legion (Georgia).
- Sumpter Legion (South Carolina) shut out Columbia Legion (Tennessee), the winner of last year’s American Legion World Series.
- Tuscaloosa Legion (Alabama) defeated Fort Pierce Legion (Florida).
- Host Shelby beat Puerto Rico 18-15 in a marathon stretching almost 5 hours, until almost 4am.
The winner of the Southeast Regionals advances to the 2008 American Legion World Series, which will also be played in Shelby, NC.
