Randolph County Legion sent defending champion Cherryville Legion to the loser’s bracket, defeating Cherryville 12-2. Randolph County remains unbeaten as does fellow Area III team, Rowan County Legion. Rowan County Legion defeated Hope Mills 7-4. Randolph County and Rowan County will play today at 7:30, with the winner advancing to championship day as the only undefeated team in the double elimination NC state championships.
Clayton and host Gastonia won their day two elimination games. Gastonia will lead off today’s action at 12:30 in an elimination game against Cherryville. Clayton will then play Hope Mills in an elimination game at 4:30.
The 2008 North Carolina American Legion State championship game will be played at Sims Legion Park in Gastonia on August 9th at 1pm with a second game to decide the championship if the team from the loser’s bracket wins.
