Randolph County Legion won the Area III championship tonight, beating Rowan County Legion to finalize the 2008 NC American Legion State Playoff Bracket. The opening games on August 5th:
- 9:30am: Randolph County faces Area I runner-up Clayton Legion in the opening game of the state playoffs.
- 12:30pm: Rowan County will start with the Area I champion, Wayne County Legion.
- 4:30pm: Defending state champion Cherryville Legion, the Area IV champion, starts with Area II runner-up Wilmington Legion.
- 7:30pm: Hope Mills Legion (Area II champion) faces Gastonia Legion (the host team).
The 2008 North Carolina American Legion State Playoffs will be played at Sims Legion Park in Gastonia, starting on August 5th. The state playoffs are double-elimination.
