NC Area III American Legion Baseball
South Rowan Legion was down to their final out, trailing Randolph County Legion by two runs. But Walker Snow doubled and then Caleb Shore drilled a walk-off two-run home run to give South Rowan Legion the thrilling 6-5 victory. Randolph County leads three games to one with the timing and location of the next game apparently undetermined due to all the re-scheduling and having to schedule around the Asheboro Copperheads.
Across the county, Rowan County Legion defeated Post 63, Burlington-Graham 12-11, after the State Commissioner had overturned Rowan’s game 4 win because game 4 had resumed in the first inning (rather than being started from scratch) after being suspended the night before due to rain…all this, after the teams had already played a game 5 as if they were in a 2-2 series tie! So, barring any more craziness, Burlington-Graham now leads the series 3 games to 2 with game 6 at Rowan tomorrow.
The winners advance to represent Area III in the NC state championships, and to face off for the Area III championship.
