HENDERSONVILLE WINS 2008 NCHSAA STATE 1-A TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Hendersonville held on to take the team title on Saturday in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association men’s 1-A track and field championships at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University.

The Hendersonville Bearcats tallied 66.20 points to outdistance second-place South Stokes with 52. Polk was third with 45, followed by Union with 42.20 and Thomasville with 40.

Polk’s John Wolfe swept victories in both the 800 meters and the 1600 meters and earned Most Valuable Performer honors in the men’s meet. Corey Wilkinson of Jordan-Matthews was a double winner, winning the 100 meters in 10.71 seconds and the 200 meters in 22.02 seconds.
