MOORESVILLE MEN WIN SECOND CONSECUTIVE NCHSAA STATE 3-A TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP

Senior Jamel Allison of Mooresville earned Most Valuable Performer honors as he led the Mooresville boys track team to the state team championship in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association men’s 3-A track and field championships at the Irwin Belk Track on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University on Friday.
Jamel Allison earned the Most Valuable Performer award in the meet by capturing first place in both the triple jump and the long jump, finishing eighth in the high jump and running a leg on the four by 100 meter relay team. Jake Deaton of Mooresville was also a double winner, winning the shot and the discus. Mooresville’s Patrick Campbell won the 1600 meters and placed second in the 3200 meters.
Mooresville tallied 75.5 points in the men’s standings to 56 for runner-up Winston-Salem Carver. Asheville was third with 52 and Jacksonville White Oak and Cameron Union Pines each had 34 points to tie for fourth.
With this championship, the Mooresville boys achieved the first ever NC high school track triple crown, winning cross country, indoor track and outdoor in the same school year.
