Davidson 73, Wisconsin 56

March 28th, 2008 Posted in NCAA basketball

Cinderella is still dancing as Davidson ran away from Wisconsin in the second half in Detroit tonight to advance to the elite eight.

Stephen Curry was terrific, scoring 33, and Jason Richards dished out 13 assists. Curry scored 22 in the second half while the Badgers scored 20. Wisconsin, the top defensive team in the nation, didn’t allow a single 3-pointer in their second round win. Davidson made 12 tonight, half from Curry.

Davidson may look across the court on Sunday and see their mirror image - another team of Wildcats led by a sensational sophomore (Scottie Reynolds) and carrying a double-digit seed, Villanova. Villanova plays #1 seeded Kansas tonight to determine the Midwest regional final matchup on Sunday.

Michigan has been good to tiny schools from NC this 2007-2008 school year - it wasn’t too many months ago that Appalachian State shocked the college football world by beating Michigan in Ann Arbor. Davidson has around 2000 students. Wisconsin has around 30,000 undergraduate students.
