Westover wins NC high school girls basketball championship
March 15th, 2008 Posted in High School Women's Basketball, High School Playoffs, NCHSAAThe Westover Wolverine girls basketball team came from behind in the fourth quarter to win the 2007-2008 NCHSAA 4-A girls basketball championship tonight. Tournament MVP Tequila Jones and teammate Tiara Gause dominated down the stretch, combining to score 17 of the Wolverines’ last 20 points.
Christal Caldwell scored 22 points for the West Charlotte Lions. The Lions will likely be a factor again next season - the Lions had four junior starters, falling in the championship this year and the regional finals last year.
