East Davidson Eagles soar to NC 2A girls high school basketball championship
March 15th, 2008 Posted in High School Women's Basketball, High School Playoffs, NCHSAAThe East Davidson Eagles won the NCHSAA 2-A girls championship, rallying in the fourth quarter to beat Graham 62-59. Anna Freeman led the Eagles with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Kiki Allen led a balanced Red Devil offense with 14 points, as the Red Devils fell for only the second time this season. East Davidson’s Alyssa Cutshaw scored 8, including 5 huge points down the stretch - a 3-pointer with about a minute left, and two out of four free throws in the final minute to seal the victory.
East Davidson has an excellent, young team, and will be a strong contender next year as well. In fact, Graham is in that same boat, as is Salisbury, whom handed the Eagles two of their four losses this season, so 2-A girls basketball should be very competitive again next season.
