Larry Drew (UNC commit) video highlights

January 10th, 2008 Posted in High School Basketball, NCAA basketball

For the UNC Tarheel basketball fans that want an early look at your future point guard, check out this high school basketball video clip of Taft’s Larry Drew in action vs Compton Dominguez. Larry Drew’s ability to handle the Dominguez pressure was cited as the key to Taft’s victory over Dominguez - both teams are ranked in the top 5 in the LA area. It didn’t hurt that Larry scored 24 and dished out 11 assists.

Larry Drew was ranked by most as one of the top five point guards in the nation entering his senior year at Taft and committed to UNC last spring. Drew actually played in the Chapel Hill area earlier this season, in a tournament game vs Raleigh’s Word of God at Broughton High School. Word of God beat Taft, and one key was Word of God’s sensational point guard John Wall, ranked in some places as the #1 point guard prospect in his class (2009), keeping Drew in check with the help of his teammates (Drew scored 13 and Wall scored 11). If Wall stays in NC, this may have been round one of many future Drew vs Wall ACC battles.

Larry Drew is #10 for Taft - you’ll see Drew spotlighted early in the clip hitting some shots and then you’ll see him setting up his teammates throughout the video:
