Western Alamance won their first ever state football championship in an offensive fireworks show against North Gaston that set state records for total points and yards. Both teams’ offense was its best defense on this day, but the Western Alamance offense was spectacular from start to finish, beginning with stars Donald Britt and Levon Curtis connecting for a long touchdown. Britt had one other touchdowns pass, and ran for three more touchdowns, as he accounted for over 350 yards though the air and on the ground and the five total touchdowns. Curtis had over 250 rushing and receiving yards, and was involved in five touchdown plays as well. North Gaston’s offense featured a spectacular duo as well, as A.J. Blue and Princeton Brooks each had several spectacular runs, with Brooks scoring on three long touchdowns runs and piling up over 250 yards on the game, and Blue running for almost 200 yards and two TDs.
