3AA high school football Championship, December 8th, Kenan Stadium (Chapel Hill)
Dudley won the 2007 NC 3AA high school football championship, beating Charlotte Catholic 28-20. Dudley QB Ricky Lewis Jr. had a huge game with close to 400 combined passing and rushing yards and four touchdowns to lead Dudley to the championship, and win MVP honors.

Dwayne Mims of Nia Niles Productions will have video highlights later this weekend on the team web sites linked above, and Harry Johnson of Fototivity will have photo highlights.

Dudley won their first high school football championship, beating a very good Charlotte Catholic team that was playing in the championship game for the fourth consecutive year. Charlotte Catholic’s star running back Wes Stringfield opened the scoring, but Dudley responded with a QB Ricky Lewis TD run and passing TD to Kenny Okoro on a crucial fourth down play. It was a back and forth game with the strong Dudley defense trying to contain the explosive Charlotte Catholic offense, and Dudley getting some huge plays on the offensive side of the ball, including the final two Dudley touchdowns. The first was another fourth down TD pass, this time from Lewis to Douglas Sigmon, and then Lewis found Tory Warren for a long TD pass on a third down play. The Dudley touchdowns bookmarked R.J. Sweeney touchdown runs for the Cougars.
