    1AA Preview and Notes

  • East Bladen travels to take on the powerful James Kenan team. East Bladen defeated Wallace-Rose Hill this past Friday 29-7. Jahreal Cromartie ran 21 times for 127 yards with a TD, T.J. Melvin ran 14 times for 77 yards with 2 TDs and Malik Cromartie returned a punt for a TD. James Kenan ran all over North Johnston 41-6. Brandon Satchell ran for 111 yards with 2 TDs, while Stedman Mathis ran 8 times for 142 yards with 3 TDs and Alex Monk also ran for a TD.
  • Pender looks to upset number one seed Louisburg. Pender shut out Ayden-Grifton this past Friday by a score of 28-0. Anthony Blanks ran 15 times for 151 yards with 3 TDs. James Henry ran 15 times for 88 yards and Travis Carter ran for a TD. Louisburg survived a scare against Camden as they won 16-8. Greg Small ran 22 times for 144 yards. Hakeem Strickland ran 21 times for 118 yards with a TD and Lee Person ran for a TD.
  • Jordan Matthews looks for revenge for the second straight week against another conference foe in West Montgomery. These two teams met in the regular season with West Montgomery coming out on top but the same thing was the story for Jordan Matthews last week as they went into Thomasville and left with the upset having won by a score of 33-21. Earl Womble ran 30 times for 178 yards with 2 TDs. Kasey Glover returned an interception for a score. Derek Brown completed 9 of 16 passes for 114 yards with 2 TDs, hooking up with Michael Coletta and Justin Glover for scores. West Montgomery defeated Hendersonville 41-7 with a nice performance out of the ground game. Dominique Drake ran for 149 yards with 2 TDs. Vince Jordan ran for 91 yards with 2 TDs. Josh Hurley threw a TD pass to Sean Little and Ryan Robertson ran for a score.
  • Mount Airy looks to stay unbeaten as they host Albemarle. Albemarle defeated East Surry by a score of 24-7, this past Friday. Willie Jones, A.J. Little, and DeAaron Cole ran for scores. Mount Airy shut out Swain Co. by a score of 30-0. Michael Dobson ran 19 times for 104 yards with 2 TDs and had an interception on defense. Aaron Wheeler completed 8 of 12 passes for 103 yards. Aaron Culler and Luke Wheeler ran for scores.
  • The State Championship game is set for December 8, 2007 at Kenan Stadium, in Chapel Hill at 7:30 pm.
