  • Perquimans is trying to play the spoiler as they look for another upset over Roanoke. Perquimans has many weapons at its disposal, led by junior quarterback Forrest Monty. Jamel Warren is a work-horse at fullback and state 200-meter champion Lamar Whidbee is a multiple threat running, receiving and in the return game. Roanoke were on cloud nine after pulling off the stunning 26-20 overtime upset Friday night over the second seeded Williamston Tigers.
  • Plymouth hosts a red hot Jones Sr. team. Plymouth handled North Edgecombe this past Friday by a score of 48-0. Tobias Clagon ran 11 times for 117 yards with 2 TDs. Andre Mitchell and Dwayne Brooks ran for scores. Dasheen Perry ran for 2 TDs. Jones Sr. has won nine straight ball games after losing their first four games of the year.
  • South Stanly looks for their third straight upset as they travel to take on Lakewood. Eric Williams’ two fourth-period touchdowns lifted Lakewood to victory over Robbinsville last week. Williams scored on runs of 27 and 2 yards and caught a 2-point conversion pass from Josh Pegues to clinch the win. He finished with 111 yards rushing. South Stanly used two early touchdown passes from Detric Allen to Chris Crockett to take an early lead on Cherokee and hold off the Braves 28-13.
  • North Duplin looks to stay undefeated against East Wilkes. North Duplin defeated Union 30-12 last week. Doug Lloyd ran 12 times for 117 yards with 2 TDs and completed 5 of 10 passes for 96 yards with a TD. Akeem Cox ran 23 times for 115 yards with a TD. R. Killette caught a TD pass and R. McCullen returned a fumble for a score. East Wilkes has upset the four seed Hayesville in the first round and the five seed North Stokes in the second round.
