    3AA Preview and Notes

  • Dudley travels to take on Nash Central. Dudley defeated NE Guilford last week after losing to them in the regular season. Dudley got the job done on the ground with Ricky Lewis, Jr. rushing for 111 yards, while Kyree Ward ran for 2 scores and Kenny Okoro ran for another. Nash Central defeated Hunt by piling up 411 rushing yards and 81 passing yards with its triple-option attack. Nash Central picked off seven passes on Friday. Tavon Mosley’s two picks led to Nash Central touchdowns, while Michael Speight’s first pick was converted into a TD and he thundered 80 yards for a TD on his second interception. Mark Brown returned his interception 53 yards for a touchdown and Jarrod Kennedy’s theft stopped Hunt at the Bulldogs’ 2-yard line, while Xavier Macklin’s pick ended a Warriors’ threat at Nash Central’s 33-yard line.
  • Webb tries to defeat the 3A defending champs of Eastern Randolph. Webb ran all over Triton with a three headed monster of Antwan Thorpe, who rushed 14 times for 127 yards with a TD, LaBarren Burwell, who rushed 8 times for 75 yards with 2 TDs, and Rockie Lewis, who rushed 19 times for 142 yards with 2 TDs. Eastern Randolph blasted Western Guilford as they came up with four interceptions and held Western Guilford to 56 yards rushing en route to a 45-13 win Friday night. Eastern Randolph quarterback Zebulon Milliner threw for three touchdowns with two of them to Jarrod Bowman and one to Riley Cromer, who also returned a kick for a touchdown.
  • South Point hosts T.C. Roberson in battle of two one loss teams. South Point put up 70 on NW Cabarrus getting production from Chris Lane, who rushed 9 times for 185 yards with 4 TDs and caught 2 passes for 60 yards with 2 TDs. Desmond Lowery completed 2 of 3 passes for 60 yards and 2 TDs. Aaron Crumbley ran 10 times for 80 yards with a TD. Michael Lewis returned an interception for a score, while K. Weaver returned a fumble for a score and Brandon Spencer returned a kickoff for a score. T.C. Roberson shut out Parkland 37-0, with Justin Wynn rushing for 197 yards and 5 TDs. Tripp Weaver completed 7 of 10 passes for 124 yards.
  • Hickory hosts a red hot Charlotte Catholic team that has only lost to private schools on the season. Charlotte Catholic used its air attack to outlast A.L. Brown. Christian Culicerto passed for 198 yards with 3 TDs, connecting with Wes Stringfield, who had 107 receiving yards with a TD and Tucker Windle, who had 91 receiving yards with 2 TDs. Hickory got it done on the ground as they easily defeated a good Glenn team. Darrien Burch ran 28 times for 216 yards, while Austin Johnson ran 16 times for 104 yards with 2 TDs and caught 3 passes for 72 yards with a TD. Kevin Shelton completed 6 of 12 passes for 166 yards with 2 TDs and Trevin Parks caught a TD pass.
  • The State Championship game is set for December 8, 2007 at Kenan Stadium, in Chapel Hill at 3:30 pm.
