    2AA Preview and Notes

  • Southern Guilford, the five seed, against St. Pauls, the four seed, is the best second round match up in the east. Southern Guilford comes in with a 9-3 record and a first round victory over Eastern Guilford. Southern Guilford is led by running back William Graves, who has 1293 yards and over 10 touchdowns. St. Pauls is 8-4 on the season and is coming off a first round victory over Central Davidson.
  • North Lincoln, the six seed, against Salisbury, the three seed, is the best second round match up in the west. North Lincoln held off Bandys in a 38-34 game last week, but now the Knights have to travel to Salisbury. Salisbury has played well under pressure by winning five games by a touchdown or less and will have the home field advantage.
  • Another good match up in the west is Pisgah traveling to take on Ashe County. Pisgah is 9-3 on the season and Ashe Co. is 8-4 on the season. Pisgah is led by quarterback Tyler Jaynes, who has passed for over 2500 yards and 21 touchdowns. Ashe Co. is also led by their quarterback Daniel Waln, who has passed for over 1600 yards and 17 touchdowns.
  • Players to watch for: Tobias Palmer, running back - Northwood, Larry Raper, running back - Shelby, Domonic Currie, running back - Cedar Ridge, Tayon Graves, running back - Reidsville, and Jose Sanchez, running back - Mt. Pleasant.
  • The State Championship game is set for December 8, 2007 at Carter-Finley Stadium, in Raleigh at 7:30 pm.
