West Rowan advances to face North Gaston in second round of NCHSAA football playoffs

West Rowan won their opening round NCHSAA football playoff game, beating Parkland 26-7 in the 3-A West bracket. West Rowan tailback Austin Greenwood rushed for almost 150 yards while Alec Daye had two touchdown runs, as the pair combined to take the carries normally given to star running back K.P. Parks (one-game suspension after being ejected for flipping into the endzone in West’s final regular season game). Justin Avery starred on both sides of the ball - picking his tenth pass of the year, and hauling in a long touchdown reception. North Gaston beat defending champion Concord to advance to the second-round matchup with West Rowan.
