    1A Preview and Notes

  • Each team is allowed to drop one non-conference game to get their record down to 10 regular season games.
  • Manteo, the eight seed, against North Edgecombe, the nine seed, is the best first round match up in the east. Manteo has had an up and down season and are coming in the the playoffs having lost their last two. North Edgecombe started off losing four of their first five before getting on a little streak.
  • Union, the eight seed, against Hobbton, the nine seed, is the best first round match up in the west. Both teams are coming in with the same record but Union won head to head as they played in the middle of the season in a Super Six conference match up. The score was 30-25 and Hobbton is looking to revenge that loss.
  • Elkin is looking to repeat as State champs as they are coming in as a seven seed and have to contend against Lakewood, North Duplin, and Cherokee. Manteo is looking to get back to the title game as a eight seed and will have to contend with Jamesville, Plymouth, and Williamston.
  • The State Championship game is set for December 8, 2007 at Carter-Finley Stadium, in Raleigh at 11 am.
