3A Preview and Notes

  • Each team is allowed to drop one non-conference game to get their record down to 10 regular season games.
  • Bertie, the five seed, against SW Edgecombe, the twelve seed, is the best first round match up in the east. Bertie lost their first three games against non-conference playoff teams before rattling off eight straight wins. SW Edgecombe lost only two games on the year as they came back to back to Rocky Mount and Nash Central, both teams made the playoffs.
  • North Gaston, the six seed, against Concord, the eleven seed, is the best first round match up in the west. North Gaston lost two games on the season and both are playoff teams in Charlotte Catholic and South Point. Concord lost two non-conference and two conference games with three of the teams making the playoffs. Concord is the defending state champs and their road back to the championship is a tough one with this first round match up.
  • The seedings for the first round games provide us with six conference match ups.
  • The State Championship game is set for December 8, 2007 at Kenan Stadium, in Chapel Hill at 11:00 am.
