    4A Preview and Notes

  • Each team is allowed to drop one non-conference game to get their record down to 10 regular season games.
  • New Hanover, the six seed, against Smithfield-Selma, the ten seed, is the best first round match up in the east.
  • AC Reynolds, the five seed, against North Davidson, the twelve seed, is the best first round match up in the west. North Davidson started the season with seven straight wins before losing four straight to three playoff teams. AC Reynolds is one of five playoff teams from the Northwestern Conference.
  • One first round game in the east and one in the west have a match up of teams from the same conference. In the east, Pine Forest and Terry Sanford meet in the first round and they are from the Two Rivers Conference. In the west, Watauga and Alexander Central meet in the first round and they are from the Northwestern Conference.
  • Middle Creek and Fuquay Varina from the Tri 8 conference met up in the regular season and Fuquay Varina came out on top. Fuquay Varina lost one regular season game to Athens Dr. and Middle Creek lost five regular season games but beat Athens Drive but yet Middle Creek was given a three seed, while Fuquay received a seven seed.
  • Southern Durham received a two seed with a record of 7-4, while Fuquay Varina received a seven seed with a record of 10-1.
  • The State Championship game is set for December 8, 2007 at Groves Stadium in Winston Salem at 3:00 pm.
