Person wins 2007 NC 4-A volleyball championship

  • Person volleyball defeated Myers Park volleyball to win their second consecutive high school 4A volleyball championship.

    Highlights will be posted tonight on team web sites and the playoff site. From the NCHSAA: Meagan Tatum led the Person Rockets to a four-game decision over Myers Park in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) state 4-A volleyball championships on Saturday at Reynolds Coliseum on the N.C. State campus. Person won the opening game 2-17, lost the second 25-22, and then recorded 25-19 and 25-17 victories to clinch the title. Tatum, a 6-2 senior outside hitter recorded 14 kills and three service aces, and was named the Most Valuable Player of the championship. PAC-Six Player of the Year and Duke-bound Amanda Robertson had 15 kills for Person.

    Myers Park, in its first appearance ever in the volleyball finals, closed the year at 25-3. Southwestern Player of the Year Christine Perzinski had nine kills for Myers Park, and teammate Olivia Humphries had eight kills.
