The West Iredell football Warriors were road warriors tonight, beating the previously undefeated West Rowan Falcons tonight on West Rowan’s home field by a score of 20-18. West Rowan had been starting games slow and finishing them strong lately, but saw the tables turned tonight as West Iredell scored 20 straight after West Rowan had jumped out to a 12-0 lead. West Rowan scored a late touchdown but West Iredell stuffed star running back K.P. Parks’ two-point conversion attempt to secure the upset victory. West Iredell handed the Falcons their first loss of the season, and snapped the Falcons 21-game North Piedmont winning streak. Parks again had a big game on the ground, rushing for over 150 yards, but West Iredell kept him out of the endzone for the first time this year. West Iredell QB Jared Thompson tossed three touchdowns in the second half to lead the Warrior comeback. West Rowan and West Iredell are both now at 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the North Piedmont. With tonight’s victory, West Iredell climbs the standings with other Friday winners Northwest Cabarrus, East Rowan, and Statesville to join West Rowan and Mooresville in a six-way tie at the top of the North Piedmont.

The Northwest Cabarrus Trojans welcomed the visiting Mooresville Blue Devils football team with an offensive show, beating Mooresville 38-24. Mooresville would have claimed sole ownership of first place in the North Piedmont with a victory, but instead share first place with five others including Northwest Cabarrus in a suddenly very crowded top to the North Piedmont.
East Rowan 21, Lake Norman 0.

Shawn Eagle hit Trey Holmes with a touchdown pass and ran for another, while Holmes also returned an interception for a TD. East Rowan improves to 5-1 while Lake Norman drops to 2-4. At 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the conference East Rowan joins five other teams in a first place tie at the top of the North Piedmont.
South Rowan 35, Carson 7.
South Rowan football video highlight
It has been a frustrating season for the South Rowan Raiders football team. South Rowan has played good football for much of the season, but had only tough losses to show for it. Tonight, they put one in the win column, pulling away in the second half to beat neighbor Carson in their first ever matchup. Blake Houston hooked up with B.J. Grant on two touchdown passes, and Houston ran for a long TD. When Carson high school was formed in 2006, much of their student population came from former South Rowan territory, and now the two schools are in the same conference, so this was game one of what could develop into a very good football rivalry.
Stateville 24, North Iredell 0.
The Statesville Greyhounds dominated North Iredell, shutting the Raiders out 24-0 to claim their part of the six-team tie for the top spot in the North Piedmont.
