A.L. Brown Jonathan Efird to Artrelle Louis video highlight
Week 5 of high school football in North Carolina present some intriguing match ups. A.L. Brown is coming off a conference victory over Sun Valley and is faced with another touch conference match up against Anson County. Another interesting conference match up between two undefeated teams in West Rowan and Northwest Cabarrus. West Charlotte has another tough match up with Butler. Defending champs of Eastern Randolph travels to take on a tough Salisbury team. The game of the night is North Gaston traveling to take on Charlotte Catholic.
Anson County vs. A.L. Brown
A.L. Brown is coming off a nice second half comeback victory over Sun Valley, and hosts conference opponent Anson County. They were led by their quarterback Jonathan Efird and do it all Artrelle Louis. Efird connected with T.J. Johnson on their first touchdown and Louis was steady on the ground as he scored a touchdown in the second half to lead the way for the Wonders. Anson County is coming off an easy victory over Parkwood. They were led by their quarterback Denis Rorie as he passed for two touchdowns and rushed for two more. A.L. Brown is playing at home, which should give them the advantage in this one. My prediction is A.L. Brown 28 - Anson County 21.
Northwest Cabarrus vs. West Rowan
Northwest Cabarrus travels to take on an undefeated conference foe in West Rowan. Northwest beat South Rowan last week by three touchdowns as Jeremy Cannon accounted for three touchdowns by running for two touchdowns and passing for a touchdown to go along with 233 yards. West Rowan is led by their sophomore running back K.P. Parks, who has rushed for over 650 yards and 10 touchdowns. West Rowan defeated North Iredell last week to move to 3-0 and move into our top ten poll in the 3A class. Both of these teams are current members of the Charlotte Observer Sweet 16 poll. My prediction is West Rowan 17 - Northwest Cabarrus 14.
Eastern Randolph vs. Salisbury
Salisbury comes into this match up against the 3A defending champ, Eastern Randolph, with a 3-1 record. Eastern Randolph comes into the match up with a 2-2 record. Salisbury lost in the second week to East Rowan but is coming off a win over West Stanly. Eastern Randolph looking to repeat as champions, lost their first two games to a solid Sun Valley team and 4A top 10 team Dudley. They have won their last two games and are looking to keep the momentum going as they travel to Salisbury. My prediction is Eastern Randolph 28 - Salisbury 14.
North Gaston vs. Charlotte Catholic
Undefeated North Gaston travels to Charlotte Catholic for a playoff type match up. North Gaston is a member of our 3A top ten and takes on Charlotte Catholic, who fell out of the top 10 after back to back losses. North Gaston defeated Lincolnton last week by a score of 47-20 and was led by A.J. Blue. Charlotte Catholic likes to pound it out on the ground with their running attack led by Wes Stringfield, as they are coming off a tough loss to Charlotte Latin. They are going to have to get their running game going and find a way to stop A.J. Blue if they are going to win this one. My prediction is North Gaston 31 - Charlotte Catholic 28.
Local Replay’s Game of the Week - West Charlotte vs. Butler
West Charlotte coming off a loss to Independence, travels to take on what might be the best offense in North Carolina in Butler. West Charlotte lost a shoot out last week as quarterback produced one of the best statistical games of the season as he passed for 512 yards and four scores and scored another touchdown on the ground. Butler’s quarterback, Jacob Charest, might have matched the effort from Thomas as he passed for seven touchdowns and rushed for another in a very convincing victory over Berry Academy. Thomas will have to bring his A game to keep up with Butler. My prediction is Butler 42 - West Charlotte 35.
