Davie County’s James Mayfield and Garrett Benje in video highlight vs West Rowan
Three-time defending champion Thomasville football Bulldogs extended their win streak to 39 games with an impressive victory over a much larger (4A) Davie County football program that was hungry for a victory coming off an emotional, last second loss against rival West Rowan. Davie had a chance late in the fourth and went for the jugular - a two point conversion to try to take the late lead - but came up short. Thomasville’s E.J. Abrams-Ward had did cash in a two-point conversion, and that proved to be the difference. Both defenses played very well with Davie’s stars QB Garrett Benje and RB James Mayfield often sharing the backfield with Thomasville defenders, and Thomasville’s star QB E.J. Abrams-Ward was mainly held in check by the Davie defense. Benje (throwing), Mayfield (running), and Ward (throwing) each had one touchdown in the hard fought football game.
