Independence dominated this football game versus Olympic from the opening kick. The stringent Independence defense had five takeaways to help setup the powerful Independence running attack led by Rod Chisholm and DeVonte Holloman. Rod Chisholm rushed for four touchdowns with three of them coming in the first half as Independence went into the half with a 22-0 lead over Olympic. Independence scored two more touchdowns in the second half - one coming from another Chisholm run, and the other coming from a pass from Anthony Carrothers to Javon Rembert.
Olympic looked overwhelmed the entire football game as they struggled to move the chains. Their best drive was at the end of the first half as they drove down the field and into the red zone. With the clock running down, their drive was stopped as DeVonte Holloman picked off a pass. Holloman returned the ball all the way down the field, but was stopped short of scoring another touchdown right before the half ended.
Independence takes the top winning streak in the nation - 109 straight games with this victory - to Ohio next week to play in the 2007 Kirk Herbstreit Challenge against Cincinnati’s Elder High School. Olympic will try to rebound against Ardrey Kell High School.
