NC American Legion Baseball State Playoffs - August 11th Schedule

August 11th, 2007 Posted in American Legion baseball

Four teams have survived the tough competition and Garner heat to keep their hopes alive of winning North Carolina’s 2007 Legion Baseball State Championship, and advancing to the Southeast regional in Albany, GA to represent NC.

August 11th, 6pm: Durham Legion vs Caldwell County Legion
Durham Legion put up 16 runs to eliminate hometown favorite Garner Legion on Friday, and now faces a very solid Caldwell County Legion team. The only loss in the state playoffs for both Durham and Caldwell came against undefeated Cherryville Legion. The winner will advance and get another shot at Cherryville on Sunday, while the loser will be eliminated.

August 11th, 9pm: Wayne County Legion vs Cherryville Legion
Wayne County Legion, fresh off the most impressive win of the tournament, a 19-1 thrashing of a 40-win Rowan County Legion team in an elimination game, will hope to stay hot. Wayne County will need a similar effort to beat the lone remaining 2007 state tournament undefeated team, Cherryville Legion, in order to advance. As the lone remaining undefeated team, Cherryville will play for the championship on Sunday, win or lose against Wayne County. However, if Cherryville beats Wayne then the winner of Durham vs Caldwell would need to beat Cherryville twice on Sunday in order to win the state championship.
