Rowan teams sweep six to advance
July 11th, 2007 Posted in American Legion baseballTop seed Rowan Legion (photos and videos) and three seed South Rowan Legion (roster, photos, videos) swept their opening round playoff series with firepower laden game three wins tonight.
Rowan scored 19 runs to beat Mooresville and advance to face the winner of Lexington/Stanly (Lexington leads two games to one). The game was close going into the fourth but a Weston Church home run opened the floodgates, and Rowan piled on the runs from there, while getting good pitching from the bullpen to keep Mooresville in check.
South Rowan scored 15 runs to beat Kannapolis and advance to face the winner of Mocksville/Concord (Mocksville leads two games to one). Daniel Wagner and Rudy Brown each homered again to help spark the offense, and undefeated Chase Deal went the distance on the mound to stay undefeated on the season.
