Rowan Legion took a 2 - 0 series lead, getting back to the formula that earned them the #1 seed in the South Divsion of Area III - dominant pitching and clutch hitting, in a 7 - 4 ten inning victory over Mooresville.
In other South Division action, #2 seed Mocksville took a 2 - 0 series lead as well with a 10 - 6 win at Concord. #3 South Rowan got another huge home run - tonight it was a two-out, ninth inning Rudy Brown grand slam - to beat Kannapolis at AL Brown 8 - 5. Meanwhile, the Lexington verses Stanly County series is shaping up to be a battle as expected; tonight Lexington came back to win game two and even up the series, with both teams winning their road games. In the North Division of Area III, the top two seeds (Randolph County Legion and Kernersville Legion) also won road games to take 2 - 0 series leads.
Rowan got superlative pitching from Cy Young and player of the game Alex Britt in their victory over Mooresville. Britt was perfect in relief, retiring all 11 hitters that he faced. Cy struck out 14 over the first 6.1 innings, allowing three earned runs, before departing for Britt.
Mooresville’s starting pitcher Nick Lomascolo was terrific as well, allowing only one earned run to the dangerous Rowan hitters, striking out nine as he pitched into the tenth inning.

Rowan took a 3 - 0 lead in the third, as a two out error scored Justin Roland, and kept the inning alive. Rowan took advantage with a clutch Trey Holmes single, plating two more Rowan runs.
Dylan West pulled Mooresville within one, hitting a two run fifth inning home run to cut the lead to 3 - 2, but Rowan came back with a Jacob Dobbins home run in their next at bat, extending the lead to 4 - 2.
In the seventh, West came up huge again for Mooresville, hitting a long double to score two runs, and tying the game at 4. Britt then relieved Young and shut down the Mooresville hitters the rest of the way, not yielding a single baserunner.
In the tenth, Rowan loaded the bases on an error and two walks, and Lomascolo yielded to Brohm after 9.1 gritty innings. Brohm threw a wild pitch, starting a wild sequence of errors in which the wild pitch scored Ridenhour, a subsequent error scored Jarrett, and yet another error scored Dobbins, giving Rowan the 7 - 4 lead, as Rowan cleared the bases on one play without the ball leaving the infield. Alex Britt made the runs stand up in the bottom of the tenth, getting the side 1-2-3, and giving Rowan the 2 - 0 series lead.
