Dee Bost NC Male Athlete Of The Year
July 2nd, 2007 Posted in High School BasketballThe Charlotte Observer, and just about everyone else, have named Dee Bost as the NC Male Athlete Of The Year. Dee starred for the Concord Spiders state championship winning football and men’s basketball teams, in what is believe to be the first time that a 3A school has won both championships in the same school year.
The video clip shows Dee nailing a three-pointer in Concord’s basketball championship over Kinston High School. Dee showed his full offensive arsenal in the championship game, scoring 27 points on a mix of long jumpers and shots around the basket after blowing by Kingston defenders with his quick first step.
Concord’s men’s basketball team loses both Dee and fellow senior star Lance Lewis (video clip below) to graduation, but we’ve seen the current team play this summer, and Coach Poplin will have them ready to compete with anybody once again. The Concord women’s basketball team will also be very good, so Concord can look forward to another year of great basketball, although Dee and the rest of the graduating seniors will be sorely missed, and have set a mark that will be hard for any school in the state to match.
