Region 3 Softball Wins Gold

Region 3 beat Region 4 by a score of 5 - 3 to win Gold at the 2007 State Games High School Softball Showcase. Region 5 beat Region 6 by the score of 4-0 to win the bronze.
Region 3 was led on the mound by Amanda Davenport (West Johnston). Amanda pitched a complete game the first game of the tournament for Region 3. Region 4 put up a good effort but came up just a little short. Region 4 wins the silver after going 3-1 and losing their only game in the championship game.
Region 5 beat Region 6 four to zero to take home the bronze medal. Region 5 got a great pitching performance out of Anna Maness (S.W. Randolph). Anna pitched a complete game giving up zero runs on three hits. Region 5 scored in the fourth after a bases loaded walk brought in the first run then Emily Byrd (Ledford) drove in two with a triple. Region 6 was led at the plate by Pamela Wade (Central Cabarrus), who collected two of her team’s three hits.
