State Games NC - Underclassmen Softball Action

Day 1
Game 1 - Region 1 beat Region 7, 10-4.
Game 2 - Region 8 outlasted Region 2, 5-1.
Region 8 opened up the scoring in the first inning with one run. Region 8 then scored one more in the second inning with two runs in the fifth and one more run in the sixth. Region 2 scored their one run in the sixth. Region 8 got a good pitching performance out of Chelsea Smith (RS Central).
Game 3 - Region 3 wins a nail bitter over Region 5, 3-1.
Region 3 got on the board first in the fourth inning scoring on a wild pitch. Region 3 added to their lead in the sixth inning when Sarah Forgacs (Green Hope) laid down a bunt single to lead off the inning. After a walk, Morgan Barbour (Garner Magnet) roped an double to right center that scored two runs. Region 5 got on the board in the seventh inning when they got back to back walks with no outs and then scored on a ground out to the shortstop by Gina Antonucci (Central Davidson). Region 3 got a dominating pitching performance by Amanda Davenport (West Johnston), who went the distance and only gave up the one run in the final inning.
