Madison Bumgarner from South Caldwell high school was selected by the San Francisco Giants with the 10th overall pick.

Andrew Brackman from NC State University was selected by the New York Yankees with the 30th overall pick.

Justin Jackson from T.C. Roberson high school was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays with the 45th overall pick.

Sam Runion from A.C. Reynolds high school was selected by the Kansas City Royals with the 66th overall pick.

Tyrell Worthington from South Central high school was selected by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the 163rd overall pick.

There was 10 players from the North Carolina area drafted on the first day.
