Daughtry leads Princeton in Game 3 to 2007 NC 1A Baseball State Championship
June 3rd, 2007 Posted in High School Baseball, NCHSAARyan Daughtry was named the Most Valuable Player as his Bulldogs downed East Surry 7-3 in the third and decisive game of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 1-A baseball championship series at Five County Stadium on Saturday. Daughtry pitched six strong innings giving up three runs on seven hits getting the win, while also driving in two runs. Dustin Pate also drove in two runs in the third inning with a double. East Surry was led at the plate by Jeremy Miller, who went two for four. Joe Joyce is charged with the loss after starting on the mound for the Cardinals and was relieved by Troy Jessup in the fourth. Princeton had won Friday night’s opener 7-3, while East Surry forced a third game by taking game two earlier on Saturday by a 4-3 count. The victorious Bulldogs finished the season 25-7 while East had a school-record 26 wins against 10 losses.
