Pender wins 2007 NC high school 1A softball championship on extra inning walk-off homer
June 2nd, 2007 Posted in High School Softball, NCHSAATourney MVP Guss Crist hit a three-run walk-off home run in extra innings to lead the Pender Patriots over North Moore in the 2007 1A softball championship game. Pender won its second straight state championship. Pender’s Britney Roper, last year’s championship MVP, and Allison Braswell, North Moore’s conference player of the year, eached pitch seven scoreless innings to force the game into extra innings. After North Moore broke through with a run in the top half of the 8th, the Pender Patriots responded quickly, winning the championship on Crist’s walk off home run.
