Those who feel the real big leagues of GHSA football are played strictly in the upper classifications surely will reconsider that line of thought. Wilcox County and Emanuel County Institute, who will play for the Class A title tonight, are simply too talented to forget. As many as 10 players are expected to play for colleges in the next two years.

North Gwinnett is trying to do what has not been done before — cause Lowndes to lose a championship game at home. Griffin lost by 16 at Lowndes in 1980. Brunswick lost by 17 there in 1999. Combined, those defeats don’t equal the 42-point beatdown Brookwood got in 2005.
