Padgett resigns as Central football coach and athletic director

Randy Padgett has resigned as head football coach at Central High School after the Lions posted their first winless record in 43 years this past season and will step down as athletic director at the end of the school year. The Lions had lost 16 straight games under Padgett, but he said he submitted his resignation voluntarily.

Groves starts fast, looks to stay perfect in hoops

Signs hang on the doors of the Groves High School gym and inside the arena that read “Same Game, Different Speed.” The increase in tempo is thanks to the Rebels’ first-year boys basketball coach, Ty Randolph, whose squad has raced out to a 6-0 start to the season. Randolph wants his defense to hustle and pressure the opposition for 94 feet, and they’ve done just that.
