Dustin Cox threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to J.J. Keyhea early in the fourth quarter to help Ware County upset Thomas County Central in the Class AAAA state football semifinals on Friday night. The Gators (12-2) will play for the state title next week against Northside-Warner Robins, which overcame a 21-point deficit to beat Tucker earlier on Friday. It’s the second straight upset for them after beating Habersham Central 30-0 in the quarterfinals.

The Loganville Christian Academy Lions had to shake off the doldrums of a three-week layoff to post a 50-38 win over Gilead Christian Academy (Macon) on Monday night. However, the Lions, now 4-0, did impress head coach Mark Davis with their overall play.

The Blue Jackets grabbed eight more rebounds than Windsor Forest, many of which came on the offensive glass, and converted on second and third chances to take an 89-78 win over the Knights.

Mike Hendricks scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Rebels (5-0) in a Region 3-AAAAA basketball game Friday. Cameron Tillman and Darius Edwards added 16 and 13 points, respectively. The Tigers were led by Jarvis Wardsworth’s 19 points. Brandon Hayes and Kentrell Hargrove added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
