Round Two provided more action, and had more of the same with few upsets. The upcoming weeks however will separate the good teams from the great. We at Local Replay brings more coverage, picks, and opinions about this week’s action.

Class A
Biggest Surprise: Shutouts galore. Two shutouts in the second round of the playoffs is a bit much with the stiffer competition. I am very surprised with the lack of offensive output from the two teams: Miller County and Dooly County.
Biggest Upset: Brookstone over Savannah County Day. Savannah County Day was one of our darlings to go far in the playoffs, but Brookstone easily dispatched the Hornets, and moved onto the quarterfinals.
Predictions: Clinch County over Fellowship Christian, Emmanuel County over Warren County, Lincoln County over Wilcox Athens Academy over Brookstone
Class 2A
Biggest Surprise: The matchup…Clinch County vs. Buford. This is a matchup against everybody’s number one, Buford vs. Local Replay’s consistent number one, Clinch County. The game could be the state’s best.
Biggest Upset: GAC over Calhoun. Calhoun was on a tear and essentially lost focus against the upstart GAC club. The Catamounts will likely look back on this game for quite sometime.
Predictions: Thomasville over Lovett, Cook over GAC, Charlton County over Buford, Dublin over Peppernell
Class 3A
Biggest Surprise: The Chamblee Shootout. Stephens County and Chamblee had possibly the best game of the past weekend in an amazing 58-57 barnburner. The offensive show put on by both teams was amazing, and it was a tremendous shame that one of these teams had to go home.
Biggest Upset: Perry over Worth County. Upsets were few and far between in Class 3A. However, one of the ones that shocked us was the Perry victory over a very strong Worth County team.
Predictions: Carver-Atl over Cairo, North Hall over Perry, Carver-Columbus over Carrollton, Chamblee over Westover
Class 4A
Biggest Surprise: Tucker’s dominance. The Tigers look like the number one team in the state with their strong play in the first 2 rounds. Big wins show the state that Warner Robins might be in trouble.
Biggest Upset: Habersham Central over Cherokee. The cinderella story is over as Cherokee loses to Habersham Central. It seemed like it was almost destiny that they would end up back at the Georgia Dome where they began the year at the Kell Classic.
Predictions: Northside WR over Rome, Tucker over Bainbridge, East Paulding over Thomas County Central, Habersham Central over Ware County
Class 5A
Biggest Surprise: How the rankings shook out. Class 5A seems to be the most likely to follow suit as a so many favored teams won. This weekend is going to make for the most exciting week of the season so far as finally these top heavy teams will square off.
Biggest Upset: Camden County over East Coweta. Not that many surprises this week makes this one of the few games that stand out. As East Coweta was one of the better teams in the class. Even though we at Local Replay chose Camden County it still was a mild surprise.
Predictions: Lowdnes over Roswell, Camden County over Grayson, M.L. King over Walton, N. Gwinnett over Newnan
That’s it for me right now - enjoy next week’s playoffs post your thoughts here.
Hit em’ Hard,
C-Gib
