Extra Point: Does seeding sow parity? | ajc.com
Looking at the playoff brackets these past few days, it has been easy to pick out some of the early-round inequities. Some portions of the bracket are much easier than others. So the thought came to mind: What if Georgia had an NCAA basketball tournament-style seeding system? The regions would determine who to send to the playoffs, but the GHSA would form committees to seed the teams and place them in the brackets.
Norcross D hopes to build on North win | gwinnettdailypost.com
North Gwinnett’s potent spread offense is a major challenge to most every high school football team, so last Friday was no different. But the Norcross defensive players walked away feeling pretty content with the number on the scoreboard in a 24-14.
Little-known King | gwinnettdailypost.com
If football players could be described in terms of television programs, Buford could accurately be portrayed has having plenty of “American Idol” type of stars. But on a team filled with such prime-time sensations, one of the most valuable of the Wolves doesn’t quite fit the mold.

Fourth-ranked Fayette, the top seed from Region 2-AAAA, last made the state playoffs in 1997. It has outscored its opponents 291-85. It had Region 2-AAAA’s highest-scoring offense (29.1 points per game) and the stingiest defense (8.5 points per game) in the regular season. Its offense is led by two of the top players in the state, quarterback Brandon Boykin, who has verbally committed to Georgia, and fullback Matt Daniels, who has verbally committed to Duke.
Bowdon aiming for first-round upset | timesgeorgian.com
This season has been unlike any other in Dwight Hochstetler’s 20-year run as head coach of the Bowdon High School football team. For the first time since 1987, the year before Hochstetler made the move to Bowdon, the Red Devils finished the regular season with a losing record. Any feelings of frustration or disappointment will be quickly wiped away, however, if Bowdon can put together a successful run in the playoffs.

Irish defense helps Dublin to unprecedented region three-peat | courierherald.com
While the Dodge Co. Indians didn’t hail from Sparta, they were slashing through defenses like loyal soldiers on a mission, averaging more than 300 yards per-game. That was until they hit a wall of green and gold Friday night at the Tee Pee.
A friendly gesture, and playoff posturing | courierherald.com
The things we’ll do for friends. Yeah, some folks might help a buddy wash their car on Saturday morning. Others might watch their best bud’s pooch during a week’s vacation. But Lance Smith has taken it one step further.
Griffin vs. Banneker | griffindailynews.com
When Griffin (9-1) hosts Banneker (6-4) in an opening-round Class AAAA state playoff game Friday night, you’ll be hard pressed to find many current Bears who remember the last time the two teams met. “I remember Banneker being real physical — a lot of speed, a lot of athletes,” said Griffin High senior Toby Jackson.
