The seven Cobb County football teams who advanced to the state playoffs have no plans for an early exit. Whitewater withstands late Northgate comeback, wins seventh straight, 26-25 | thecitizen.com

Thoughts on Newnan, East Coweta | timesherald.com
If the truth be told, however, I had no idea who’d come out on top. I picked the Cougars because (1) they were playing at home and (2) because they had a slight edge over EC in the margin of victory over common region opponents, not much in the way for reasons, admittedly, but it was all I had. Anyway, I found out a long time ago that what I think has absolutely no bearing on the outcome of any game. I felt the contest could have gone either way and, as it turned out, it could have.
Vikings show fight, desire | timesherald.com
Most of the local attention last week, and deservedly so, was on the Newnan-East Coweta showdown at Drake Stadium. But the effort of the Northgate football team on Friday night at Whitewater was second to none. Only a couple of questionable calls by the officials and a failed final-second two-point attempt denied Northgate its second win of the season. “Our team has waited a long time for something good to happen to them. We had more bad breaks, but it never halted our fight or our desire to win,” noted Northgate head coach Bill Luckie.
‘The game’ not the prettiest | timesherald.com
Friday night’s Newnan-East Coweta game wasn’t the prettiest of performances for either team, but it was plenty good enough for the Cougars who won for the fifth straight time over the Indians and clinched their second straight Region 4-AAAAA championship. The two teams combined for six turnovers, three by each, and both botched scoring opportunities.
