But first they had to take care of Harlem. Cross Creek did its part as junior quarterback Keenan Grissett threw four touchdown passes in a 46-15 win over the Bulldogs.

Lopsided loss hurts Marietta going into playoffs

Marietta had hoped to go into the Class AAAAA playoffs with a little momentum. After Friday’s 49-0 loss to No. 1-ranked North Cobb, all the Blue Devils have is no-mentum. A week after a 31-7 shock at Woodstock, the Blue Devils got taken to the woodshed at Northcutt Stadium, their most lopsided home defeat since a 45-point loss to Rockmart in 1950.

Tigers maul Dade County
| dailytribune.com

The Adairsville Tigers used a strong second half and a stifling defense to finish their season on a high note Friday, beating Dade County, 31-6, to finish with their best record since 2003. “I was happy,” said Adairsville coach Mark Arthur. “I wish we’d played with this kind of effort the week before (against Chattooga), especially on the defensive side of the ball. The kids were flying around and I was hoping we’d do that against Chattooga. At least we did do it Friday night.”

The skies over Paulson Stadium turned purple during the early Saturday evening. Then turned to black. And somehow, on a day when the Southern Conference regular-season title was falling perfectly into place for Georgia Southern, the Eagles’ fate, riding on a 33-yard field goal, drifted to the right, silencing a crowd of 23,373 and stopping the Eagles’ meteoric climb in the league standings.
