Jefferson QB fueled win over rival | onlineathens.com
The more Josh Bohanan tried to remind himself that Commerce-Jefferson was just another game this past Friday night, the more he realized his mental efforts were simply futile. “There’s a lot of hype about this game,” Jefferson’s starting quarterback said Sunday. Thanks in large part to Bohanan, the Dragons snapped one of the more memorable losing streaks in Northeast Georgia with a decisive 42-7 win over their Jackson County rivals.

N. Gwinnett hopes to avoid repeat of last year | ajc.com
North Gwinnett is 9-0 for the second time in history and hoping to avoid what happened the first time: a defeat against Norcross. When the Region 7-AAAAA rivals played in 2006, both were 9-0, and North Gwinnett was ranked No. 1 for the first time. Norcross won 31-10.
It’s region rankings time! | ajc.com
The bad thing about ranking teams is that only those handful of schools that are borderline Top 10 get really get steamed if they’re not included. For example, Poll Talk has not heard a single Mill Creek fan complain about not being ranked. It’s just a challenge to some teams bent out of shape.
SW DeKalb’s Godfrey a guiding force | ajc.com
It is here, at a table near the bathroom, and not on the sideline, where Godfrey feels most comfortable — chopping it up with an interchangeable group of hard-working men whose allegiance to each other is unshakeable.

Canes close out season versus Central-Carroll | dailytribune.com
This season has been a roller coaster for the Cartersville Purple Hurricanes football team. “Most people — 80 percent — won’t see a change,” Cartersville Water Department Director Jim Stafford said. The fee hikes, approved at the Cartersville City Council meeting Thursday, are based on a tiered schedule that increases as consumption increases. First-tier rates stay the same, at $1.04 per ccf or 100 cubic feet.
Bright future | gwinnettdailypost.com
The playoff hopes for the Collins Hill football team may have ended with last Friday’s 31-21 loss to No. 6 state-ranked Norcross. However, that game - and for that matter, the entire last half of what has been a 3-6 season heading into this week’s finale against South Forsyth - has given the Eagles a very encouraging look ahead.

Pirates searching for a strong finish | griffindailynews.com
With one game remaining in the regular season and a shot at the playoffs gone, Pike County is just looking to finish the 2007 season on a high note with a win Friday night. That will not be an easy task as the Pirates (3-6 overall, 2-5 Region 5-AA) travel to Macon County (6-3, 6-1), a team that has already claimed the region title. To make matters even worse, Pike County will be playing without its top two running backs — junior Jesse Briscoe and senior Justin Ivester, both of whom suffered season-ending injuries.

Top 10’s bottom half gets a shake-up | savannahmorningnews.com
Last week showed why the area’s top teams were at the top of the Savannah Morning News’ Top 10 rankings as the top five squads stayed the course and won. On the other hand, three of the five bottom teams found themselves on the wrong end of the scoreboard leading to a shake-up of the poll. Savannah Country Day entered Friday night’s gamer against Calvary Day ranked No. 8, but a 42-21 win over the Cavaliers lifts the Hornets to No. 6 in the area. SCD has at least the No. 2 seed in Region 3-A and will go for the region title and No. 1 seed Friday against the area’s top-ranked team, Emanuel County Institute.
