AJC’s High School Football Rankings

MLK

Class 5A

1. M.L. King-Their big win over Stephenson, who was the number one team according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution, cements their status as the state’s best.
2. Lowdnes-The Vikings had a bye week and it should prep them for their stretch run.
3. Camden County-A dominant win over Savannah proves that the Wildcats are title contenders again.
4. Chattahoochee-The win over Roswell puts the Hornets in prime position for a region crown.
5. Coffee-The Trojans dominated a strong Tift County team, 31-14.
6. Valdosta-The Wildcats are back as a force in 5A their 20-0 win over Warner Robins sent a message to the entire state.
7. North Gwinnett-Peachtree Ridge couldn’t hang with the Bulldogs, 31-19.
8. Walton-The Raiders handled a very strong Pope team pulling away late in a 28-10 win.
9. Jenkins-The Warriors come into the top ten with an impressive undefeated 5-0 record and a shutout streak.
10. Stephenson-Can’t fault the Jags for a loss against the state’s number one, and they still belong in the top ten.

Dropped Out: Chattahoochee

NWR

Class 4A

1. Northside Warner Robbins-Baldwin couldn’t hang with the best team in Georgia 31-0.
2. Tucker-A huge win against Mays proved that they are a team that could be at the Georgia Dome in December.
3. East Paulding-The Raiders held on against Woodland 13-7.
4. Cherokee-Lithia Springs was no problem for the Warriors as they win a defensive struggle 17-6.
5. Northwest Whitfield-A powerful win for the Bruins sets them up for a big game against Dalton.
6. Fayette County-A big win against Creekside really makes the Tigers a contender in region 2.
7. Salem-The ‘Noles are rolling after an opening game loss, and crushed Alcovy 27-7.
8. Evans-Their win against Statesboro put Evans in the top 10.
9. Dalton-After an opening game loss, the Catamounts are on a roll and their win against Rome proves they belong.
10. Mays-Their loss to the number two team in the state drops them down a bit, but they proved they belong among the state’s elite.

Dropped Out: Statesboro, Rome

Carollton

Class 3A

1. Carrollton-The best team in 3A continues to prove it, 30-6 against Cedartown.
2. Lagrange-A big victory against Spencer 55-6 is what the Grangers need to stay at the number 2 spot.
3. Carver, Columbus-The Tigers have been dominant this season on defense and continued with their 46-0 win over Kendrick.
4. Peach County-The Trojans win against Northeast Macon wasn’t pretty, but it still counts.
5. North Hall-A dominant win over White County, 49-7, puts the Trojans in prime position for a postseason run.
6. Chamblee-Dunwoody was no match for the Bulldogs, 27-0.
7. Carver, Atlanta-A bye week will ready the Panthers for their big showdown against McNair.
8. Stephens County-The Indians continue to impress. This time with their 51-21 win over Monroe Area.
9. Cairo-After a tough loss the Syrupmakers responded with a big win against Westover 48-14.
10. Henry County-The Warhawks have been on fire since they lost their first game and have reeled off 5 straight wins.

Dropped Out: Spalding

Charlton County

Class 2A

1. Charlton County-The Indians are quickly becoming the best team in 2A with another big win.
2. Buford-No one has been able to hang with the Wolves, Holy Innocents were no different.
3. Dublin-Back to back wins shows that the Fighting Irish are back.
4. Fitzgerald- The Purple Hurricanes continue to roll with a 28-0 win over Berrien.
5. Morgan County-The Bulldogs are beginning to dominate their region with yet another win with Greene County being the latest victim.
6. Callaway-The Cavs are one of the best teams in the state and continue to impress with their win against Lamar County.
7. North Oconee-Gordon Lee couldn’t hang with the Titans, 38-13.
8. Adairsville-The Tigers are suffering no ill effects from an early season loss.
9. Calhoun-The Yellow Jackets whipped Sonoraville 49-7.
10. Jeff Davis-A 5-1 record puts the Yellow Jackets into the top 10.

Dropped Out: Tooms County

FC

Class 1A

1. Fellowship Christian-The Paladins had no problem against Mt. Pisgah 42-21.
2. Lincoln County-Hancock Central couldn’t match up against up the Red Devils, 36-12.
3. Emmanuel County-The Bulldogs are also undefeated and had no problem dispatching Claxton 42-21.
4. Clinch County-After a rough start, the Panthers have righted the ship, and have won 4 straight games.
5. Athens Academy-The Spartans are rolling in the region, and pulled out a big win against Prince Avenue Christian.
6. Pacelli-The Vikings beat up Central, Talbotton, 42-2, and are rolling.
7. Commerce-The Tigers have become a strong team, and their 36-35 win against Social Circle proves it.
8. Dooly County-A bye week preps the Bobcats for a big game against Irwin County.
9. Seminole County-Pelham couldn’t hang with the Indians 46-13.
10. Brookstone-The Cougars come into the top ten with an impressive resume including their latest win over Stewart Quitman 49-16.
