Region 5-AAAAA Tournament: North Cobb @ Kennesaw Mountain

LocalReplay featured photographer Jon Uhler will be at this afternoon’s Georgia Fastpitch Softball Region 5-AAAAA tournament game between the North Cobb Lady Warriors and the Kennesaw Mountain Lady Mustangs. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m. This afternoon’s game will be the first in a best of 3 games tournament, with the winner crowned the 5-AAAAA champions. Game Two will be at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, and Game Three will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday (if necessary).

Kennesaw Mt. brings a 9-0 region record, and a 25-4 overall record, into tonight’s matchup. The Lady Mustangs are the top ranked team in Class AAAAA, according to the most recent GaSports.com Coaches Poll. The Lady Warriors have also had a fantastic season, going 7-2 in region play (20-7 overall), and currently ranked No. 10 by GaSports.com. The last time these two teams met was in mid-September, with the Lady Mustangs pulling out a hard-fought 2-0 victory over the then-ranked No. 2 Lady Warriors. Tonight should be a barn-burner, as the game will not only feature two of the Georgia fastpitch elite teams, but will also put the loser down a game in the quest for the Region 5-AAAAA title.
