Clair Harris Stadium is 7:30 p.m. The Red Devils will attempt to break a three-game losing streak and secure their first league victory while Winder is 4-1 but coming off a 28-0 loss last week at Habersham Central.

After Arquevious Crane was transported from the intensive care unit via a stretcher to his room at The Shepherd Center Thursday, the fallen South Gwinnett football player showed just where his mind is on overcoming his debilitating spinal cord injury. Placed by staff on a bed, the 16-year-old Crane immediately asked to be placed in a wheelchair. To Dr. Donald Peck Leslie, that action was significant.

The Cartersville Lady Canes softball team got a pair of home runs in the bottom of the third inning and made them stand up to beat Cass, 4-1, Thursday at the Cartersville Baseball Complex. Cartersville (7-24, 2-5 Region 6-AAA) got a three-run homer from Brooke Tomlin and a solo shot out of freshman Kaye Sullins — who went 2-for-3 in the game — to grab a 4-0 lead after three innings.

Even though they dropped their regular season finale, the Lady Tigers (16-10, 5-7) aren’t quite done yet this fall. On Tuesday, They clinched a spot in the Region 8-AAAA Tournament, which begins next Tuesday. Alcovy will likely play at Eastside, which would have clinched the No. 1 seed with a victory in a late game Thursday at Habersham Central.

It was senior night for the Lady Wildcats (18-7-1, 6-2 region) and their final game of the regular season and things went off “purr-fectly.” Whitewater defeated Creekside 15-0 and got dominating pitching performances from Whitney Toler and Alysa Glaze. Both pitchers struck out every batter they faced in the three inning game.

In a span of two evenings, the Newnan Lady Cougars softball squad played games that ended at 7:12 with positive results. On Wednesday, the Lady Cougars needed over two hours to defeat the Morrow Lady Mustangs 18-7 due to a portable strike zone but needed only 72 minutes and five innings to defeat the Mundy’s Mill Tigers 10-0 last night.

Alison Owen tossed a no-hitter here Thursday night and the East Coweta Lady Indians closed out the regular season with a 10-0 five-inning win over Morrow. Owen struck out nine, five in succession from the third out of the second inning to the first out of the fourth, and allowed just two balls out of the infield all game long.

Pickens closed the regular season Thursday with a 7-1 win over Chestatee in Region 7-AAA action. The Nettes finished second in the region and will be the No. 2 seed in the upcoming region tournament next week.

North Hall closed out the regular season with a 13-0 win over Gainesville Thursday in Region 7-AAA softball action. Megan Rogers pitched a two-hitter and went the distance in a game called after the fift inning because of the Mercy Rule. The Lady Trojans (13-12-2, 6-5 in region) had 11 hits and just one error.

Statewide

West Hall defeats Chestatee and Loganville | accessnorthga.com
West Hall defeated Chestatee and Loganville before losing to Mount Pisgah. Chestatee lost all three matches, while North Hall defeated West Forsyth in three games. Johnson defeated Gainesville, who was swept by the Lady Knights and Gilmer. Buford was also swept on Thursday. Jubilee Christian and Forsyth Christian School both won their respective matches.
