Last Friday night the Washington- Wilkes Tigers slipped by the Banks County Leopards by a score of 20- 13. A strong goal line defense and a few long runs saved the day for the Tigers, allowing them to pick up their second region win of the season. Washington is now 2-3 on the season, and undefeated in region 8AA.

Georgia has grabbed its second two-sport star in as many recruiting classes. Xavier Avery, a football/baseball standout from DeKalb County’s Cedar Grove High, committed to Georgia over the weekend. “He is a good one,” said Cedar Grove football coach Ray Bonner. “He is the kind of kid you want around your team. He is real competitive and he always wants to be first.”
