Another division, another set of co-champions. Class 2A co-state champions Dublin and Charlton County are at the top of our list., but after these two powerhouses, the rankings get very interesting.
1. Charlton County-An undefeated season last year, and a championship. What’s not to like?
2. Dublin-See above. Classify the Fighting Irish as 1B. These two teams should again face off in the Georgia Dome.
3. Buford-Yet another undefeated 2006 regular season record among the 2A giants. The Wolves lost to Charlton County in last year’s playoffs, and have lost a number of players.
4. Fitzgerald-The Purple Hurricanes finished last season with an unblemished record, but then fell in the first round of the playoffs. Look for this team to build on the success last year.
5. Bleckly County-The Royals return a number of seniors, but lose Zeke Rozier to graduation. Coach Sam Barrs has his work cut out for him, but this team will shine.
6. Lovett-Mike Muschamp has his team motivated after a strong playoff run last season. The Lions could be a surprise contender this year.
7. Heard County-Yet another 2A team went undefeated last season, and bowed out early in the playoffs. The Braves have great potential, but lost too many players from last year’s squad to be a serious threat to the division crown.
8. Morgan County-Any team that scores 48 points in the playoffs ought to win almost everytime. But as the Bulldogs found out, you have to hold the other team under 48. This team is talented, but needs to shore up the defense.
9. Pepperell-The Dragons had a successful season by their standards in 2006, finishing 9-1. Yet, the playoffs were a different story as they exited early. This season should be no different.
10. Darlington-The last team in our top ten might be the most dangerous on the list. The Tigers strong running and passing game make them a dark horse playoff contender.

And last but not least, we focus on Class 1A - smaller schools with smaller rosters and a lot of unpredictability. With Lincoln County losing a ton of talent to graduation, the state title is up for grabs in 2007.
1. Clinch County-Really the best of a scattered bunch. The Red Devils return a number of key players and were very close to the title last season. Look for the loss to Lincoln County to be their motivation this season.
2. Athens Academy-This team is loaded after a 13-0 run into the playoffs last season. They very well could be holding up the championship trophy after this season.
3. Lincoln County-It is impossible not to put this team on the list. Coach Larry Campbell should have his team primed for another solid season.
4. Turner County-The Patriots return a strong offensive line including Keyshawn Odom, and should have a strong rushing attack. But the defensive effort will be key to their season.
5. Commerce-The Tigers found success last year in a number of ways offensively. This year the team must again find a way to score to back up a stout defense.
6. Emanuel County-It’s hard to say that finishing undefeated in the regular season is disappointing. But losing your opening playoff game sure is. Look for the Bulldogs to improve their playoff record this season.
7. Hawkinsville-Hawkinsville is definitely the sleeper team of the class. After an impressive run last year, the Red Devils will try to turn that into a deep run in November.
8. Seminole County-The Indians have high expectations every year, and this season should be no different. Don’t be surprised if you see this team playing in December.
9. Hancock Central-One of the most inconsistent teams last year was the Bulldogs. If the team gains some consistency look out for them in region 7.
10. Gordon Lee-The Trojans had a solid season last year, but coach Kevin McElhaney expects more from his team.
