* This weekend marked the AJC’s annual tradition of naming it’s Super 11. A number of promising prospects such as Tavares King from Habersham Central and Dontavius Jackson from Heard County are featured.
* AAAAA football is no longer as dominant as in year’s past writes Jeff Hawes of the AJC.
* After two ties in last year’s state championship, things are about to change. But, the GSHA is still deciding on how to break the ties.
* The Coaches Association has released its preseason top ten. There are some familiar names at the top of the list such as Warner Robbins, and Roswell. Coach Mark Ledford of Wilcox County is optimistic that his team can go all the way.
* The Augusta Chronicle takes a look at Greenbrier, and their chances for the upcoming season. The Chronicle also makes their own predictions.
* The Valdosta Wildcats appear to be back to their winning ways after defeating Bainbridge High in a scrimmage last weekend 41-16. Lowdnes County was successful as well winning against Thomas County Central before the rains came.
* Last week the News Reporter took a look at the Washington-Wilkes Tigers, and their chances in the jamboree.
* Loganville High School edged South Gwinnett in a hard fought scrimmage highlighted by several excellent defensive plays.
* The Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets dropped a closely contested scrimmage to Wheeler County this past Friday.
* The Salem Seminoles look to start their season off 1-0. Brandon Evans explains it won’t be that easy.
* In Pickens County things are looking up for the Dragons as a new era begins. Coach Steve Sewell is cautiously optimistic about this season.
* Storm clouds shortented yet another scrimmage. As the Heritage School faced off against the Holy Spirit Cougars.
* The Macon Telegraph has compiled a video preview of a number of area teams. Peach County, Perry, Jones County, and Baldwin are among a few of the many teams highlighted in this in-depth preview.
* Shaw High School has a strong defensive line, and they will determine how far this team will go.
* Brookstone High will be getting its leadership from Wesley Kiggins.
* As Jarmon Forston of Carver found out, a great receiver can always learn new things .
* It’s been unmercifully hot in Georgia, and that means its rough on football players.
* Eagle’s Landing can only go one direction from last season. That definitely means improvement in all areas including better play from quarterback Dylan Shaddix.
* Liberty County has a new defensive plan for this upcoming season, and it involves a number changes. Thomas Desbiens is responsible for changing the defense.
* Coach Craig Davis of Wayne County was excited about his team after a storm shortened scrimmage.
* USC signee Brice Butler of Norcross knows no one can stop him.
* For West Forsyth, this season will defintiely test the limits. As the Wolverines prepare for their inagural season, Coach Frank Hepler is ready.
